The historic Schomburg Center in Harlem (515 Malcolm X Blvd.) has launched a fantastic new reading series that I felt I should share with you all. The Schomburg Reading Room: Writers on the Cutting Edge, curated by acclaimed author, poet, and journalist, Quincy Troupe which will run from September 2008 through May 2009. It's crazy how many times, in the past few weeks, I've heard people say that they don't read because A) they don't have the time, B) they can't find material that appeals to them, or C) they're just not into reading! AND, to put the cherry on the cake, these comments all came from Brown PEOPLE! This is damn near blasphemous! So here's an opportunity to activate your reading libido and hopefully find something you are "more into."
